Faculty of Arts & Science – Dean Crow Remarks and Last Lecture on Earth

Virtual Event

Join the Faculty of Arts and Science for a fun, nostalgic event including the chance to hear directly from Dean Barbara Crow on what's new within the faculty, followed by a re-imagined version of the ever-popular 'Last Lecture on Earth' series.

Grab a coffee and reminisce about all of the time you spent sitting in lecture halls across campus, as Dr. Rebecca Manley, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of History, delivers an engaging and visually appealing lecture titled "The Kitchen Debate: Revolution, Terror and Dissent in the Soviet Kitchen".

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have spent more time than ever in our kitchens (for better or for worse). This lecture will delve into the evolution of how the kitchen came to be the centre piece of our homes in today's society, while highlighting how this one room became a highly political space for many families throughout the Cold War - and helped serve as a catalyst for change, for women particularly, in the Soviet Union.
