Physics, Engineering Physics and Astronomy Open House

Location
Date

Join the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics and Astronomy for an open house at Stirling Hall during Homecoming 2023. This all-ages event is an opportunity for the Queen's community to meet current students, faculty, staff, and fellow alumni. Learn about what is new with the department and the university.

Built between 1962 and 1964, Stirling Hall is a distinctive round building located on Bader Lane was originally meant to be situated on the lower campus between Kingston General Hospital and Theological Hall. Well-publicized protests from students, faculty, and alumni upset with the rapid pace of campus development, however, led to the preservation of that area as a green space. A notable feature of Stirling Hall is a Foucault Pendulum, which hangs in the centre of the second floor. The pendulum swings in a pattern and at a speed determined by the rotation of the earth and the latitude of Kingston.

This event will begin in the foyer of Stirling Hall. An accessible entrance to the building can be found on Stuart Street. For inquiries or accommodations, please contact Sarah Chapman, Communications and Events Officer.
