The Barbara Wigle Memorial Bursary

Donor Story:

Barbara was born in Peterborough, Ontario in 1941. She received her RN in 1961 from Toronto Western Hospital and then enrolled in Nursing at Queen’s University, receiving her Diploma in Public Health Nursing in 1963. Upon graduation she started work doing rural calls with the Victorian Order of Nurses in Kingston, and very much enjoyed the countryside and patients. She married Ronald D. Wigle in 1963 and supported him while he finished Medical School at Queen’s. Once he graduated and started work as an intern and resident, she returned to Queen’s to complete the BNSc. program. Barbara went on to be an accomplished sewer, knitter, spinner, weaver, cook, and bookkeeper and a much loved wife, mother and grandmother.
