Katharyn Hernández graduated from Rice University in 2020 with a BS in Chemistry, a BA in Art History, and a certificate in Italian. As an undergraduate, she interned at a house museum, taking inventory, relocating artifacts, and updating databases. She was introduced to some conservation skills under Dr. Zahira Véliz Bomford at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Additionally, Katharyn did research with the Martí Group from 2018 to 2020 and co-authored two papers on the functionalization of nanomaterials. As a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, she presented research at conferences in 2018 and 2019 and was published in the 2019 MMUF Undergraduate Journal. Following her graduation, she did research with Rice’s Art History department compiling knowledge about the motifs and locations of Campana reliefs.
