It is with great sadness we share the passing of alumna Dr. Mabel Corlett on Sunday, April 14, 2019.

In 1960 Mabel was the first woman to obtain a BSc in Geology at Queen’s University. She earned her MSc and PhD at the University of Chicago, returning to Queen’s in 1969 to teach Minerology. She made great strides as the  department’s first female professor. She resigned in 1986 to start her own business, the Wool Room.

Mabel will be deeply missed by her former students and colleagues.

A celebration of life will be held at the Kingston Yacht Club on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 2 – 5 pm.
