FAS provides support for students attending WISE

The Faculty of Arts and Science has subsidized the attendance fee of 25 students attending the 10^th annual Women in Science and Engineering Conference: Above and Beyond. The funding will come from the Faculty’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization Fund.

The Faculty of Engineering is also providing funding for 25 students to attend the conference.

“Diversity drives discovery. Inclusion fosters innovation,” says Dr. Elliot Chapple, Director - Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Indigenization (EDII), Faculty of Arts & Science. “We each have only a part of the puzzle. Working together with people who bring many different perspectives allows us to ask more interesting questions and develop better solutions. We are proud to support our students to attend this conference.”

Hosting the conference is the Women in Science and Engineering – University of Toronto (WISE U of T) Chapter. Established in 1999, the group supports and empowers all women in STEM fields and help them achieve their full potential as future engineers, entrepreneurs, scientists, and leaders.

The conference features:

• Competitions ranging from consulting cases to research pitches to case for you to test your skills.
• Charismatic keynote speakers geared to inspire you through their exceptional stories, journeys, and achievements.
• Comprehensive speaker panels on various STEM fields including psychology, climate change, bioengineering, EDI, academia and more.
• Career fairs of companies ready to network with you and share the various opportunities they offer

The School of Graduate Studies will be at the grad fair with a few students from the Faculty of Arts and Science and Engineering helping as well.
