What made you decide to pursue online learning?

I decided to pursue online learning so I could obtain my degree while still working full-time. Studying online has allowed me to still have a healthy balance of work and a social life, since I do not have to revolve my outside hobbies around a set class schedule.

I also enjoy traveling, so studying online allows me the flexibility of traveling when I desire and I am able to bring my laptop with me and continue to study no matter where I am.

How did you hear about Queen’s online options, and what made you choose Queen’s?

I did a lot of research before selecting my online program – Queen’s Distance Studies had exactly what I was looking for; an interesting program, no time restrictions for obtaining my degree, engaging and informative electives, and the staff were quick to answer any questions or concerns when I called them during my application process. Queen’s also accepted transfer credits from my college diploma, allowing me to save money and time while pursing my degree.

Would you recommend online learning to others? Why/why not?

I would definitely recommend online learning to others. It’s convenient and fun. For those with a busy lifestyle – whether it’s work or travel or family – online learning allows you to study at your own pace, with no stress, and from the comfort of your own home. It is great being able to study whenever and wherever you choose.

What advice would you give to someone starting an online degree?

Try to get into a routine early on into the term. It is easy to get distracted during everyday life and forget to complete a task for your course. Most importantly, print the time table and course packages out, having the due dates physically in front of you helps to lay out a mental schedule of when each assignment needs to be started and completed by. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when viewing all of the assignments online, but if you have the weekly time table you can focus on the task that is at hand for one specific week.
