Take a moment and introduce yourself

As a globetrotter, I've travelled the world from 2004, and have recently settled in South Korea.

What made you decide to pursue online learning?

Higher Education was something always discouraged in my family, but in the greater world, I found myself constantly surrounded by "educated people" that I knew as much if not more information about things. They all strongly encouraged me to pursue my higher education and after some diploma programs, I finally gained the confidence to attempt a university level course.

How did you hear about Queen's online options, and what made you choose Queen's?

I searched for a few years about my online options, when Queen's finally appeared, what they offered appealed to me.

How did you find your first online course / learning experience?

My first online course, though a bit of an atypical experience, didn't discourage me from continuing.

How did you find the experience using technology to access classes?

The technology wasn't an issue at all, I'd already done an online diploma. It took me a short amount of exploring before finding everything I needed. OnQ is a very user-friendly platform.

Would you recommend online learning to others? Why / why not?

I would absolutely recommend online learning to anyone and everyone. It was fantastic in terms of flexibility around my lifestyle, and I am able to take my time to listen to modules over and over as opposed to sitting in a lecture and catching "some" of the information.

What advice would you give someone starting an online degree?

Get familiar with the platform. Connect with people right away.

Have you had any memorable experiences with us so far that you'd like to share?

I've had some very positive experiences with people in the Queen's online community. A shout out should go to David Youssef who is always in my corner and doing his best to help me out. The Facebook platform for troubleshooting is fantastic as well.

What surprised you the most about online learning?

How reasonably easy and advanced it was. I absolutely love using online apps such as launchpad where I can practice, do quizzes, listen to the readings, and even do flashcard and matching activities.

What are your hopes / dreams / ambitions after your courses / program?

My ambitions are to work at the international school level to give my children a head start in life in an education system that fosters child development. If I can work there, hopefully, my children can attend. But mainly, I hope to have my confidence back, pride from my friends, and surprise from my family that I was good enough and smart enough.
