The Library offers a number of services to assist individuals with disabilities. Please make yourself and your needs known to Michele Chittenden, Coordinator of the Adaptive Technology Centre.  The Coordinator’s office is located in Room 120b of the Adaptive Technology Centre.  For information about other campus library locations, please go to the Accessibility tab on the Library homepage.

Research Assistance

The Coordinator is available by appointment to assess your information needs and to assist you to develop a research strategy using the Library's resources.

If you require in-depth subject assistance, arrangements can be made with the appropriate subject specialist.

Retrieving Library Materials

For those who require assistance, Library Accessibility Services staff or Information Services staff will retrieve library materials such as books, bound journals and government documents from the library shelves upon request. Students must supply a list of titles with call numbers. Depending on timing and staff availability, retrieval may be immediate, or take up to 24 hours.

Extended Loan Periods

There are several options for renewing your books: online and in person.

Students may arrange extended loan periods for books or reserve items by making a request to the Coordinator. Requests will be filled subject to demand on the material.

There are lockers located in the Adaptive Technology Centre. Students interested in using ATC locker space should speak with the Adaptive Technologist at the beginning of each new term.

Library Hours

The hours for all Queen’s libraries are posted on the Queen’s Library homepage.  The Adaptive Technology Centre is available to students when ever Stauffer Library is open.
