Group study session in the Library

What can we help you with?

Connecting to the wired network

All Bader Hall rooms have an ethernet socket if you would like to connect your device directly to the wired network via an ethernet cable. If you need an ethernet cable, you can buy one from the Book Stack (in the Library). Once you have connected your device to the socket, your device will automatically be assigned an IP address.

We recommend that you pack an ethernet cable with you so that when studying in your room you can connect to the wired network rather than the wireless, as it is both faster and more reliable.

IT ServicesConnecting to the wireless network

You can connect to the wifi in most of Bader Hall and the Castle. This is designed to be supplementary to wired access. Login details will be provided at orientation and upon your arrival at Bader Hall. If you have any personal devices you wish to put on the network, such as gaming consoles, please contact BC IT in advance of doing so, so that they can check that the devices are compatible with our network.

Printing

To print, you can login using your Bader College username and password, choosing your preferred printer from the campus network. You are given twenty-five A4 single-sided print credits per course, completely free of charge. If you need to top up your account, please ask at Bader Reception to purchase additional credit as necessary.

Room wifiYour email

All email correspondence from the Castle community and Queen’s will go to the email address you supplied to Queen’s Admissions. Let us know if you do not receive emails, as this may indicate that there is a problem with your account. If you would like to forward all your email to another address, please ask us in IT and we will show you how to set this up.

It should go without saying, but please check your Queen’s email regularly, otherwise you may miss important information and announcements.
