Available for use in both iOS and Android formats from the respective Play Stores, the GuideTags App is a collaborative project with DRAGEN Labs
The app is designed to enhance the experiences of visitors and Castle community members, by delivering GPS-triggered multimedia content to their mobile phones, providing wayfinding information, interpretive routes of the extensive grounds, and interesting facts about the history, architecture, and evolution of the Castle and its grounds.
This ongoing project identifies points of interest around the gardens and grounds, writing compelling descriptions of them and suggesting interesting routes to guide our visitors around them.
Users are encouraged to update the descriptions of the points of interest and include their own stories about the Castle and its features by providing photos and sharing anecdotes, trivia, and childhood memories.
Users currently have a choice of two modes: Discover mode, where visitors to the Castle can follow their feet around the estate and trigger the the Herstmonceux Castle Points of Interest (POIs) automatically, learning about them while following their own trajectories and whims. They can also choose Tour mode, which comes with the same interesting wayfinding information and historical anecdotes, but follows a set route.
