Both were excited to meet with award recipient Carol Wainio, who presented a lecture on graduate school applications for the Fine Art Fourth Year Professional Practices Seminar in November 2013.

“Attending the Governor General’s Award ceremony was a one-of-a-kind experience that I’m so honoured I was able to attend. Being in the presence of the Governor General, as well as being able to make professional contacts, was very exhilarating and will be useful to me as an emerging artist.”

2012

BFA and Art History students and faculty attended the 2012 Governor General’s Award For Visual and Media Arts ceremony, which was held at Rideau Hall in Ottawa last Wednesday.  Fourth year BFA honours students Phoebe Cohoe and Kaisa Moran chatted with award recipients Jan Peacock and Margaret Drague, and other guests during the reception; as well as tour the art filled residence of the Governor General.  After four years of hard work in the studio, this was an opportunity for students to participate in recognizing senior Canadian artists’ achievements and to envision the real potential of a career as an artist.
