Job description

Duties include:

  • Teaching one upper year undergraduate course, Healthy Aging (KNPE 335), during the Winter 2019
  • Teaching one section of maximum 30 students; 2 hours 40 mins/week and offering 1.5 office hours/week during 12 instructional weeks of term. One section = 2 x 1hr 20 min classes; classes taught between 08:30 and 21:50. Regular teaching week runs Monday to Thursday.
  • Developing the syllabus in line with Queen’s University (Canada) School of Kinesiology & Health Studies and BISC Curriculum Committee requirements.
  • Preparing and submitting innovative proposals for two field studies.
  • Leading and actively teaching on two field studies.
  • Setting and marking assessments.
  • Setting and invigilating an exam during the exam period of 1 to 9 April 2019.
  • Marking exam and submitting results in accordance with Queen’s University requirements.

Person specification

  • Holder of a post-graduate degree in health studies, relevant to this course.
  • Demonstrable experience of teaching and assessing undergraduate students.
  • Ability to communicate subject matter clearly and engagingly.
  • Flexibility in working hours. Lectures may take place in the evening and field studies often take place on Fridays and at weekends.
  • Commitment to high quality teaching and creating a fully inclusive, positive learning environment.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Successful completion of an enhanced DBS check.
  • Own transport, or use of public transport and taxi, to travel to and from work.
