Fall 2018

13th August - 13th December

Innovation start up summit

i2TRM combines a semester abroad in the UK with the chance to form your own business venture, all while earning 15 units towards an undergraduate degree plan.

  • A 2-week intensive business bootcamp to develop your skills. Part 1 delivered by guest experts in Kingston, Ontario. Part 2 delivered on-site at the BISC's Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, UK.
  • 4-5 field trips to visit major centres of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in London and nearby cities (museums, theatres, start-ups, incubators, etc.)
  • 1-2 self-curated business trips to create learning and networking opportunities to develop your venture.
  • 5+ guest lectures from members of the London node of DDQIC's Global Network. Members are Queen's alumni coming from a variety of backgrounds in engineering, law, and business. They will conduct a guest lecture, listen to pitches, provide one-on-one feedback to teams, and network with the cohort.
  • Weekly pitches of your venture progress to guest experts, peers, professors & program coordinators.
  • Final pitch competition. By the end of the program, ventures will have a minimum viable product and compete for early stage funding.

  • An innovation lab in the Castle equipped with tools for building and prototyping (woodworking, metalworking, soldering, 3D scanning and printing, etc.). Support will be given for students to get access to other materials/workarounds.
  • Co-working spaces.
