Academic Policies and Procedures
Queen’s University has concise, accessible academic policies so that students and faculty are clear on our institutional expectations for academic activities.
The full Academic Regulations can be accessed via the Arts and Science Academic Calendar, and it is the responsibility of every student to be familiar with these regulations. Appropriate adjustments of the regulations for UK law and local conditions at the Bader International Study Centre are detailed in Section 18.4 of the Academic Regulations.
Academic Consideration for Students in Extenuating Circumstances
The Senate policy on Academic Consideration for Students in Extenuating Circumstances (PDF, 89KB) was approved in April 2017. Queen’s University is committed to providing academic consideration to students experiencing extenuating circumstances that are beyond their control and which have a direct and substantial impact on their ability to meet essential academic requirements. BISC students can find the Faculty of Arts and Science protocol and portal where they submit a request at https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/accommodations. Please note that instructors are not able to grant extensions on an individual basis.
Course or Grade Appeals
Course or Grade Appeals by BISC students are reviewed by the Faculty Office on main campus. All information about course or grade Appeals, as well as the online portal for submitting an appeal can be found here: https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals. Students requiring support in submitting their appeal should make an appointment with a BISC Academic Adviser.
