Financial Assistance

Herstmonceux CastleQueen's University offers a range of non-repayable awards and grants to help ensure that the brightest and best students can access world-class education at the BISC. Financial support is available for Canadian and non-Canadian, Queen's and non-Queen's students, at all levels of study.

The majority, but not all, of funding opportunities have associated eligibility conditions, therefore it is essential applicants consider all requirements prior to submitting an application. Please also observe any application deadlines and submission requirements.

In addition to funding available exclusively at Queen's University, Upper Year students will also find a range of funding opportunities from other institutions to support your education at the BISC. Individual institutions should be contacted directly for further information.

First Year Applicants

BISC-specific awards of up to $7500 are available for all First Year students.

First Year program only; maximum award; based on financial need; application required.

Upper Year Applicants

There is guaranteed funding of $7000 available for all Upper Year students!

Includes Queen’s students and international students studying on a letter of permission for the academic year 19/20; application required.

First Year Applicants

No application is required for these awards. Recipients of these scholarships will be selected automatically based on academic achievement alone.

Incoming First Year students to the BISC may apply for Major Admission Awards in addition to be being considered for the awards listed above.
  • Maximum amount: Up to $15000 per year (varies by award)
  • Audience: all incoming first year students to Queen's
  • Basis of assessment: varies depending on the award but may include superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership. Financial need may be considered.

Upper Year Applicants

There are several bursaries available to all Upper Year students (Queen's and non-Queen's students) in their second or subsequent year of study. The objective of the bursary program is to assist students who demonstrate financial need by meeting a portion of their basic costs for attending the BISC.

Exclamation3The BISC Award for International Study is awarded to upper year students in any undergraduate program of study who have been selected to attend the Bader International Study Centre in the Fall and/or Winter terms. Awards are available to Queen’s University students, or students studying on a letter of permission. All incoming students are guaranteed a $7000 discount on their BISC program fees!

  • Maximum amounts: Up to $7000 (Fall/Winter), $2500 (Summer) and $1250 (Medieval Theatre Studies)
  • Audience: upper year students (Queen's and non-Queen's)
  • Basis of assessment: typically based on financial need
  • Application deadline: students are encouraged to apply at time of application to study

All Upper Year programs at the BISC are eligible for OSAP, with the exception of the Medieval Theatre Studies program which does not qualify based on the length of the program. However, you may apply for a bursary for all programs including the Medieval Theatre Studies program.
