Con-Ed students attend 'Medieval Day'In September, we enrolled our first cohort of students training to become teachers alongside their regular Art/Sci degrees. Having spent the Fall taking part in classroom observations at local primary schools, they made the jump to High School in the New Year and attended placements at Battle Abbey School and Claverham Community College. The Con-Ed program was an instant success, and we very much hope that offering students such a useful comparative experience so early in their teaching careers will prove to be an attractive proposition that will see this program prosper.

Our first ever Con-Ed Careers Evening began with a motivational presentation by ‘Super-Head’, Sir Paul Grant. A renowned Head Teacher at Robert Clack High School in Dagenham, Sir Paul was knighted by the Queen in 2009 for services to education. He was recognised for turning what was a failing school with appalling behaviour, where a mere 17% of pupils earned 5 GCSE passes, into one of Ofsted’s ‘outstanding’ schools. He employs a number of Canadian teachers himself, and we are delighted to count someone of his standing in the education sector as a fan of our program.
