Dr Joanne PaulThe commercial side of the Castle received a boost this year with massive media exposure when it provided the setting for two BBC television programmes: Gravity and me: The force that shapes our lives – presented by Physics professor Dr Jim Al-Khalili, and the jewel in the BBC’s afternoon programming, the antiques show, Flog it!

Castle alumnus Dr Joanne Paul also filmed an episode of the popular webcast Viral Histories at the Castle. Joanne spent her first year of university at the BISC, before finishing her joint Bachelor's (with Honours) at Queen's, where she received the Thomas M. Walsh, M. A., Memorial Prize in History. Now a Lecturer in Early Modern History at the University of Sussex, she is also Joint Director of the Centre for Intellectual History. This year Joanne was announced as one of ten ‘New Generation Thinkers’, whose research will be made into radio and television programmes for the BBC.
