The BISC’s Academic Advisors, Dr Peter Lowe and Mr Charan Rainford, are available throughout the term to help you with any questions relating to course selection and plans for future study.
Areas in which we can help you include:
- General Academic Advice
We know that, as 1st years or upper years, university can be very different from your previous experience, and we are here to help you make the right choices for academic success at the BISC and on your return to the main Queen’s campus.
If you have a particular course-related concern, this should be raised with your specific instructor. Please contact us, though, or come to our Office Hours, if you would like to discuss your studies in a more general sense.
- Adding and dropping courses from your transcript while at the BISC
You may find that your original course choices are not quite right for you. We can advise on how best to make changes to your course-load without limiting your academic options.
- Getting credit (where applicable) for transferable courses already studied elsewhere
Some high school credits may be accepted by Queen’s towards your 1st year studies. We can advise on your options in this area.
- Selecting courses for 2nd Year study
- Planning for your major / minor / medial degree plans
- Liaising with main campus departments to answer questions regarding further study
As you think about your degree pathway we can advise on upper-year options and plans that accommodate your strengths and interests.
