At The Book Stack we will help you connect with the texts that you will need for your courses of study in a way that is affordable. Through the website you can identify the core reading items for your courses and buy either used or new copies as you prefer. We also offer the option of leasing texts, which is by far the cheapest method of securing access to a text for an entire term – as long as you don’t want to own the book or wish to write in it!

If you want to see what The Book Stack stocks, either visit the website or come to the Library where Book Stack texts are displayed at the far end of the Lending Library.

Purchase/lease options

  • Buy new—the most expensive option, but we sell at cost to keep our prices as low as possible.
  • Buy used—to keep a book forever but at a lower cost, buy our good condition used copies. (Some copies are sold as Used – damaged. These copies include (usually) highlighting or annotations, or will have creased covers. All are still readable texts, but are sold at a very reduced rate to reflect the fact that they are damaged.)
  • Lease (not available on all titles) – for really expensive titles which you are unlikely to want to keep at the end of term, we offer a lease option. You pay a fee at the beginning of term and you keep the book for the whole term. As long as you return the book to us at the end of term in a condition that is almost the same as when you received it, then you will incur no further charges. (See our Terms and Conditions page for further explanation of the lease option.)

How to place an order

Simply use the search option to find the books you  need, or use the categories or tabs to retrieve all titles for a specific course.  Titles that are required or recommended reading for specific courses have been categorised and tagged with the course code. If you would like to see which titles are required reading for your courses, go to the Courses page under Contact Us and find your courses there.

Once you have identified titles you wish to buy, add your chosen titles to your basket and go to checkout to place your order.

When we receive your order, we will set your books to one side and email you to let you know that they are waiting for you to collect. You will receive an invoice which will tell you how much you will need to pay when you collect your items. Please bring this with you when collecting your items.

Ordering non-stock items

If we do not have in stock the book you need, just contact us and ask us to order it for you. We will agree with you a new or used copy and a price, and you will pay this once you receive the book. Any books you need, whether on your reading lists or not, can be ordered in this way.

Not just books…

We also stock a range of stationery in our physical store:

  • Paper, lined and squared
  • Pens, pencils, erasers
  • Folders and ringbinders
  • Calculators
  • And lots more!
