The BISC offers an on-site counselling service, as well as para-professional support services. Please note, Student Services staff are not trained counsellors. However, they can listen, help, and provide practical and emotional support.

On-Site Counselling Service

The BISC runs a short-term counselling service, with limited availability.

Students will be offered up to a maximum of 6 sessions per semester. A session is a maximum of 50 minutes. Appointment times, dates, spacing between appointments, availability, and duration may vary.

Available appointments are released a week at a time and become available the Thursday prior at 2:30pm.

Please note that this service operates in the Fall and Winter semesters only. Individual counselling appointments can be arranged for students on Summer programs - please contact a member of Student Services.

What you can Expect

We will not make moral judgments about your situation or behaviour. Our role is to inform you of your options, make you aware of the consequences of these options and provide support and guidance in the choices that you make. Please note, Student Services staff are not trained counsellors. However, we can listen, help, and provide practical and emotional support.

Online Resources

There are some very useful online resources available. Your Best You Self-help Workbook Series was developed by counsellors at Student Wellness Services specifically for Queen’s Students. All three books are self-directed, so students do not have to talk with a counsellor first. All three books are available for free online here.
