Applying for a Student Visa

Students studying at the BISC for more than 6 months, who are from a country outside the UK, must apply for a Student Visa. This includes:

All First-Year students (except those travelling on a UK passport)
Upper Year students studying at the BISC for boththe fall and winter terms

Applying for a Student Visa is a straight forward process if you follow the visa instructions and guidance. You can only apply for a Student Visa in your home country or in a country where you have existing formal residency rights.

Please note: The December vacation is included in the visa period. You will therefore qualify as a student at the BISC for more than 6 months even if you return home, or travel during the vacation.

When should I apply?

The earliest you can apply for a Student Visa is 6 months before the start date of the course. Once you have been issued with your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter you can start the application process and should do so as soon as you can.
