First Years can spend a full year at the castle in our Arts, Science, or Con-Ed streams. Upper Years can take advantage of our course clusters in the Fall, Summer, or Winter terms.

All students benefit from our small class sizes and personal contact with our professors.

    A vibrant, friendly campus

All students live on the castle estate itself in our Hall of Residence, Bader Hall. The BISC is a small community that prides itself on its sense of inclusiveness and diversity. And with over 30 ratified student clubs, there's no excuse not to get involved!

In an emergency, immediately call Security on ext 4400 (01323 834400 from an external or mobile phone). You can also phone Security for first aid assistance. When possible do not call 999, but ask Security to do this for you, as emergency services need to be met at the entrance to campus and guided to the incident location.

If you are off-site and in a medical emergency you should telephone 999. The call is free.

The nearest Accident and Emergency (A&E) department to the BISC is at Eastbourne District Hospital, about 20 minutes away. If you have an accident or urgent medical problem you can go to the A&E department to be seen by a doctor. You do not need to make an appointment, but you may have to wait several hours as people are seen depending on the urgency of their medical situation.

If you need medical help but it is not an emergency and your Doctor is unavailable, you may want to use an NHS walk-in centre where you can be seen by a nurse. The nearest walk-in centre is at Eastbourne train station and is open 08:00 - 20:00, seven days a week.

Fire Drills

Fire alarm drills are held at the beginning of each year, and fire alarm testing is conducted each week on a Friday morning. Please evacuate for all fire alarms, except for these weekly tests.
