Class Crests

Many faculty societies hold competitions each year for the design of the class crest that will be featured on their faculty's school jacket. Please submit the finalists to the University Relations Brand Team for feedback prior to the selection of the winning crest. Final crest designs must be approved prior to production. Below are the general guidelines for all class crest designs as well as the more specific criteria for each faculty.

General Class Crest Guidelines

All three Queen’s primary colours should appear in the design using the correct colour formulas:
Queen’s Blue – Pantone 295 – CMYK 100 / 63 / 0 / 67
Queen’s Gold – Pantone 124 – CMYK 0 / 29 / 100 / 1
Queen’s Red – Pantone 187 – CMYK 0 / 100 / 74 / 26

No other colours should be used prominently in the design with the exception of black or white (unless specified in the faculty-specific instructions below).

Neither the Queen’s logo, nor any elements extracted from it, can be incorporated into class crest designs. This includes but is not limited to the crown, exact shield shape, interior symbols, and swash Q. This same rule applies to the sub-brand logos (Smith School of Business, Athletics, Alumni, and Bader College) with the one exception being the use of the Smith crown on Commerce class crests.

The trademarked words "Queen’s" or "Queen’s University" should not be included in the crest.

If the design includes a capital letter Q, the shape cannot be the same or confusingly similar to the swash Q in the Queen’s wordmark.
