Employment & Volunteering

Getting connected with your community will help you find balance and will contributed to your overall success as a student.

Looking for a way to get involved with others? Want to make a difference locally or globally? Volunteer for a cause you believe in and give back to your Queen's and Kingston community at the same time.

Just need to earn some money to support your time at school? Working part-time is an excellent opportunity to contribute to your financial plan.

Through employment or volunteering (or both!), you can gain valuable work experience, learn to manage your time, and expand your business and social network.

Seeking volunteers for Homecoming 2018

Help welcome alumni home through a variety of student volunteer roles, and be a positive presence at Homecoming events. Sign up before September 28!

Sign up to be an Ambassador for Queen’s Student Alumni Association  – enhance your networking and event planning skills, and meet other students and Queen’s alumni. QSAA volunteers also get to attend exclusive Queen’s events such as galas, award ceremonies, and luncheons on behalf of the student body. We are looking for students in all years and faculties, including international and exchange students!  Apply by Friday, September 21st.

Queen’s Cares Reading Week

Queen’s Cares is a community engaged learning program that takes place locally, nationally and internationally during the February Reading Week. Through hands on experience, workshops, presentations and critical reflection, students have the opportunity to explore community identified needs. Students reflect on what they are learning, develop skills, and make connections to their academics. Throughout this process they build relationships with host communities that are rooted in cross-cultural understanding and a commitment to social justice.

As a student, participating in the program offers you the opportunity to:

  • Develop an increased awareness of local and global community-identified needs by working on a project or exploring a topic with a community organization, and engaging in a process of action and reflection
  • Work collaboratively with a group of fellow students, enhancing your sense of community on campus
  • Cultivate intercultural skills by exploring your identity and perspectives as they relate to members of different communities
  • Enrich your academic studies through experiential learning and skill building opportunities outside of the classroom
