Have your say. Help shape the future of Queen's.
The Shift Survey gathers feedback from Queen’s students about campus culture — including safety, belonging, inclusion, and equity. Your voice helps guide decisions that shape supports, services and the student experience for everyone, now and in the future.
2026 Shift Survey
Students were invited to complete the Shift Survey from January 27, 2026 to February 17, 2026.
A stratified random sample of students received an invitation by email. Students who do not receive an invitation by email and wish to participate, may request a survey link by emailing irpsurv@queensu.ca.
Students were invited to share their experiences at Queen’s through a short online survey about campus culture and climate, including belonging, safety, equity, and inclusion.
Feedback will help the university understand what students are experiencing, identify areas for improvement, and track progress over time.
This study has administrative acknowledgement by the Queen’s Research Ethics Office (REO). The REO has granted the project an exemption from GREB oversight under TCPS2 Article 2.5.
Your Voice Matters
- Real student input drives real change. Decisions on supports, services, and campus climate are guided by actual student experiences — not assumptions.
- Your insight shows what students are facing right now. Only students can accurately describe what campus feels like, where barriers exist and what happens in learning and living environments. Your perspective ensures that the university works from lived realities.
- Your voice strengthens accountability. The survey tracks whether efforts to improve campus climate and inclusion are working — and helps hold the university to its commitments.
- Your participation supports equity-deserving students. Broader participation amplifies the experiences of students who face racism, exclusion, ableism, homophobia or transphobia, ensuring these are heard and acted on.
- Your contribution shapes the experience future students will have. What you share informs the next phase of work in faculties, classrooms and student services.

Past Surveys & Reports
The Shift Survey was previously conducted in 2021 and 2023. Reports are available. The insights from survey results helped guide initiatives across campus to improve inclusion, support and equity. The 2026 survey will build on that work with a report released in Fall 2026.
