Colonel Kevin D. Stringer, US Army Reserve, is a Eurasian Foreign Area Officer and Strategist at Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR) and a Lecturer in Leadership and Strategy at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.

Colonel Stringer previously served on active duty as Director, Deputy Director, and Division Chief, Strategy, Plans, and Policy Directorate (SOJ5) at Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR).  For interagency assignments, he was Director, Plans and Strategy (J5) for Operation Gallant Phoenix (OGP) in Jordan and U.S. Africa Command’s (AFRICOM) Liaison Officer to the Department of State in Washington, D.C.  Colonel Stringer has held command and staff positions in the 8th Infantry Division, the Southern European Task Force (SETAF), European Command (EUCOM), Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH), and Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).  He has served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State and worked as a Professor of International Relations at several universities.

With a B.Sc. degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he earned a Ph.D. in International Affairs from the University of Zurich, an M.A. in International Relations from Boston University, and an M.A. in Strategy and Leadership from the U.S. Army War College.  Colonel Stringer was a distinguished graduate of both the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Army War College.

His military education includes the Aviation Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC), the Joint Forces Staff College, and the U.S. Army Senior Leader Seminar.  Besides his U.S. decorations, he is the holder of the Estonian Defence Forces Meritorious Service Cross for his work on unconventional warfare planning in that country.
