Hayley McNorton graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in 2015, followed by a Master of Arts from Queen’s in 2016. Her research at the intersection of intelligence, security, and civil-military relations focuses on intelligence and security accountability and regional border security, specifically in North American and commonwealth countries. Hayley’s work has been published by the Macdonald Laurier Institute (MLI) and the Toronto Star, and she has testified before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security and the Senate Standing Committee on National Security and Defence.

Hayley is an active member of the Smart Cybersecurity Network (SERENE-RISC), Women in Defence and Security (WIDS) and is an affiliate of Borders in Globalization. Hayley is currently an analyst for National Defence where she provides policy advice and guidance.
