November Festivities

Brrrr, I finally had to bust out my winter jacket for my morning walk! I think this cold weather that has slowly made its way to Kingston is here to stay. It’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through November already! Is anyone else feeling lost in time and wondering how it’s this far into the semester as I am? With just over a month until winter break (I hope this acts as a little reminder to keep you going!), I wanted to share some ways to momentarily forget about the pile of marking, papers, and tasks and have some fun!

Visit Kingston puts together a great list monthly, sharing all the things the city has to offer. I’ve pulled a few I am looking forward to here:

  • Winter Lights: Starting November 14, take a stroll down Princess Street to see pretty light displays and begin to get into the holiday spirit!
  • Santa Claus Parade: Grab a cup of hot chocolate, bundle up and head out to Princess Street to catch Kingston’s Santa Clause Parade. Leaving the intersection of Bath Rd. and Princess St. at 5pm, making its way to Springer Market Square for the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7pm.
  • Mackinnon Brothers Holiday Market: Head on out to Mackinnon Brothers Brewery on November 26 & 27 and December 3 & 4 from 10am – 5pm for a fun-filled time, browsing local vendor stands, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, decorate cookies, have your picture taken with Santa and warm up by the fire! This event is bound to get you in the holiday spirit.

Remember to take a step away from your laptop occasionally and enjoy what this great city has to offer! Share in the comments how you are taking breaks this month!
