New Science Frontiers 2019

Approximately 50 scientists were invited to Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Lab, New York for a workshop on New Science Frontiers 2019. Dr. Heather Jamieson of Queen's University Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering was among these scientists.

The agenda for this workshop was around six science areas: quantum materials, materials and engineering science, catalysis and chemistry, soft matter, molecular , and biosystems and earth/environmental sciences. For each area, participants were “charged” with posing the Big Science Questions and with suggesting how synchrotron facilities can be used to answer these questions. Dr. Jamieson was invited for the Biosystems, Earth and Environmental sciences sections, and included Dr. Anna Harrison and Dr. Chris Omelon as co-authors, as well as graduate students Brent Kazamel, Amy Cleaver and Clare Miller.

Dr. Jamieson was also recently appointed to the Science Advisory Committee of the Canadian Light Source in Saskatoon.

Congratulations to Dr. Jamieson on these accomplishments!
