What Will I Learn?

In the Master of Earth and Energy Resources Leadership (MEERL) the resource life cycle will be explored through an interdisciplinary approach.

Course Overview          

You will learn the progression of the resource life cycle, with its fundamental earth science and engineering aspects, as the center of this program. The resource lifecycle will be explored in 7 core courses and through four different perspectives:

  • Business Strategy & Innovation
  • Economics
  • Law & Policy
  • Stakeholder Engagement

Then take 3 of 4 elective courses where you will examine in-depth the energy or mineral life cycle, take a field-based synthesis course, or explore a topic of interest or a related to your career through a sector-focused project. 

All courses are taught through:

  • Real-life case examples for discussion, analysis, and recommendations
  • Hands-on approach – tools and methodologies you can apply to your career immediately
  • Regular feedback from classmates, professors, and industry advisors and mentors

  • EERL 804 - Economic Essentials – Part II
  • EERL 805 - Operating Effectively: Law, Policy, Regulation and Ethics
  • EERL 806 - Communication, and Partnerships: Stakeholder Engagement Strategies
  • EERL 807 - Technology and Innovation

The elective courses available to you are (you will select 3 of the 4 courses):

  • EERL 808 - Minerals Life Cycle Track
  • EERL 809 - Energy Life Cycle Track
  • EERL 810 - Field-Based Synthesis
  • EERL 811 - Sector-Focused Project
