Dear 2021 Queen’s MIR Graduates,

I am particularly pleased, on behalf of myself and the faculty and staff of the MIR and PMIR programs, to extend our congratulations to you on the occasion of achieving the Queen’s MIR degree. This is a significant accomplishment, and we are very proud to have you join the ranks of the Queen’s MIR Alumni. Your class has been, quite simply, remarkable.

Congratulations to Adjunct Professor Tony Giles on being among the recipients of the Canadian Industrial Relations Association / Association canadienne des relations industrielles (CIRA-ACRI) Canadian Freedom of Association Award award.

The annual award recognizes an outstanding contribution on promoting understanding of, and compliance with international standards regarding the right to organize and bargain collectively, as those standards apply to Canada.

A silver lining of the remote delivery of the MIR program during 2020-21 academic year is that we were able to “bring in” an incredible number of our wonderful Alumni to speak virtually with our MIR class, in a variety of ways! It all began when we had an overwhelming response to our call for Orientation Week Alumni Roundtable participants - we needed to channel this generosity!
