Dissertation

My doctoral project studies the intersection of gender and technology in 20th-century science fiction stories of robotics and artificial intelligence. I am interested in how contemporary debates, anxieties, and expectations of gender and automated technologies are literally constructed in the bodies of artificial characters and embedded into the formal features of the text.
