TOPIC: Environmental Movements and Activism

Course Description

This course explores environmental movements and activism in historical, contemporary and global context. Topics will include: theories of environmental concern and action; different tactics, such as consumer boycotts, direct action, international NGO lobbying, and legal battles; movements and activism around climate change, pipelines, conservation, green living and Indigenous movements, among others. Students are encouraged to explore their own interests in a major term paper.
