Description:

We are pleased to invite you to the opening of Hopes and Fears for Art: Printing Arts and Crafts across the Globe, an exhibition co-curated by students in ARTH865 and presented by W.D. Jordan Rare Books and Special Collections and the Department of Art History.

Opening Reception:
Thursday, January 15th at 2:00 pm

W.D Jordan Rare Books & Special Collections

3rd Floor, Douglas Library

Light refreshments will be available.

Inspired by the ideas of William Morris (1834–1896), Hopes and Fears for Art explores how artists around the world turned to craft as a way of questioning industrial modernity and imagining more humane futures. Featuring books, pamphlets, and printed works from W.D. Jordan Rare Books and Special Collections, the exhibition traces the global reach of the Arts and Crafts movement and how its ideals took distinct local forms. The exhibition asks what it means to make with intention, and why those questions continue to matter.

The exhibition will be on view from January through May 2026, and we warmly encourage you to visit during opening hours Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
