We look forward to connecting with you! Due to the ongoing pandemic, the centre remains closed, and all events will be held online.  

We offer several regular events, most for Indigenous Queen’s Students only.

Sacred Fire  

Weekly, 11am EST starting Sept 14, 2020 - Open to the Queen’s University Community

Join our Fire Keeper and Cultural Counsellor for a time of reflection and teachings. Request can be made of the Fire Keeper to put your tobacco into the Sacred Fire.

Drumming 

Mondays, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. EST - September 14 & 28, October 5 & 19, November 9 & 23, December 7 -  For Indigenous students only 

Drumming is an important for to feed your Spirit. Drumming sessions are geared for all level Drummers. You’ll receive teachings on the Drum, learn songs and make new friends! Be kind to your Mind!

Tuesdays 

Beading Circle 

Weekly, 11:00 am-1:00 pm EST starting Sept 8, 2020  - For Indigenous students only 

Our beading circle is run by Dr. Karen Lawford weekly via Zoom. This circle is open to all Indigenous students, no matter what your current beading skill level is. You can pick up a new skill, work on an existing project, or just hang out!

Teachings with Al

Bi-weekly, 3:00-4:30 pm EST, starting Sept 9, 2020 - Open to all community members

Al Doxtator – Queen's Elder  – will be providing teachings from the Haudensaunee Nation.

Sharing Circle with Wendy and Lisa

Weekly, 5:00-6:30 pm EST starting Sept 16, 2020 - For Indigenous students only 

Wendy - Queen’s Elder -will be sharing a weekly Teaching on our indigenous World View and Traditional ways to take care of the Emotional, Mental, Physical and Spiritual aspects of ourselves.

Online Card Tournament 

Monthly, 3:00 pm EST - Third Thursday of the month starting Sept 17, 2020 - For Indigenous students only 

To follow up with our ever popular 4D kitchen card games, we will be hosting a variety of online card tournaments! Take a break from studying to join in the fun.

Tea with 4D

Bi-weekly, 11:00 am EST starting Sept 11, 2020 - For Indigenous students only 

Tea with 4D is meant as a casual and social drop-in space with Four Directions staff and Indigenous students! Come catch up with other Indigenous folks on campus, bring questions for your peers, or simply log in and hang out while doing homework. Caution: many laughs and smiles are had here!

Oneida Language with Al 

Bi-weekly, 3:30-4:30 pm EST  starting Sept 4, 2020 - Open to all community members 

Al Doxtator – Queen's Elder – will be providing Oneida language instruction. These classes are for all levels of learnings.
