AVAILABLE EXPERT - Apple "Let Us Loop You In" media event

Monday, March 21, 2016

Queen’s University marketing expert Neil Bearse is available to comment on Apple's Let Us Loop You In media event. Technology experts predict that Apple will introduce new, smaller versions of the iPhone and iPad Pro, as well as possible updates to the iOS, watchOS, OSX and tvOS operating systems.

“Apple has two product lines in need of momentum – iPhone and iPad,” says Mr. Bearse. “The Apple Watch and TV are both sideshows to the numbers Wall Street cares about – it’s all about sales of these two iOS devices.”

“The new products, if they emerge as rumoured, aren’t revolutionary upgrades. If anything, they’re repackaging technology we’ve seen before into slightly new form factors, in hopes of finding pockets of sales within an already saturated market.”

Mr. Bearse also says that Apple CEO Tim Cook’s keynote address could be a highlight of the event, with a federal court hearing regarding Apple’s encryption technology scheduled for tomorrow.

“What I’m watching for today is effectively Tim Cook’s closing arguments before their federal court hearing tomorrow versus the FBI,” says Mr. Bearse.  “This event is conveniently timed from a PR perspective – we should expect a monologue to get Apple’s pro-privacy stance back into the headlines on the eve of this precedent-setting showdown.”

Mr. Bearse is available for print and radio interviews only.
