Available Expert - Bridgerton: An escapist and deeply seductive fantasy

Tuesday, January 12, 2021

Queen’s University literature expert Robert Morrison is available to talk about how the Regency era is portrayed in the popular Netflix series Bridgerton.

“The series doesn’t tell us a great deal about what life was really like in England in 1813, the year the series is set, but is rather a fairy-tale that on some levels challenges perceptions of race, gender and sexuality”, says Morrison. “Bridgerton is part frothy romance, part call to action."

The Regency years extend from February 1811 to January 1820.
