Available Expert - Calls for public inquiry into Canada’s high extradition rate

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

Queen’s University immigration expert Sharry Aiken is available to comment on calls for a public inquiry into Canada’s high extradition rate – prompted by extradited professor Hassan Diab and his legal team.

“I support calls for a public inquiry and underscore that reforms to Canada’s extradition laws are required,” says Professor Aiken. “The threshold for extradition is much too low and the safeguards to ensure fair trial guarantees in the country of extradition are insufficient.”

Professor Aiken is traveling and can be reached for print interviews only at 416.529.0379.

To arrange an interview, please contact communications officer Dave Rideout (613.533.6000 ext. 79648, 613.453.5676, or dave.rideout@queensu.ca) or Anne Craig (613.533.2877 or anne.craig@queensu.ca) at Queen’s University News and Media Services Department in Kingston, ON, Canada.
