Available Expert - How does an asteroid pass earth undetected?

    Monday, July 24, 2023

On July 13 a 200-foot-wide asteroid called 2023 NT1 passed earth but wasn’t detected until two days after it had already passed – and this isn’t the first time astronomers have been in the dark on asteroids coming close to earth.

Professor Sarah Sadavoy (Physics, Engineering Physics & Astronomy) is available to speak to media about general asteroid detection techniques, why they are so hard to find, and where asteroids tend to live in our solar system.”
