Queen’s University immigration expert Sharry Aiken is available to comment on a number of ongoing immigration issues including the immigrants flooding into Canada at unofficial crossings. One crossing has become so crowded this summer that the Canadian police have set up a reception centre in the Quebec community of Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are adding electricity and portable toilets and the military are setting up tents to accommodate the flood of people.
Please note Professor Aiken is available for phone interviews at 416-529-0379.
To arrange an interview, please contact communications officer Anne Craig (613-533-2877 or anne.craig@queensu.ca) at Queen’s University News and Media Services Department in Kingston, Ont., Canada.
