Available Expert - Kendrick Lamar wins Pulitzer Prize for Music

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

Queen’s University adjunct lecturer and musicologist Robb MacKay is available to comment on rapper Kendrick Lamar being awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his album Damn. – which marks the first time the winner has not been a classical or jazz artist.

“Kendrick Lamar's Pulitzer: Has culture caught up to counter-culture or the other way around?” asks Mr. MacKay. “What does this award say about Hip Hop's place in the arts, and about its reborn political voice?”
