AVAILABLE EXPERT – Launch of UberHop in Toronto

Monday, December 14, 2015

Queen's University business technology expert John-Kurt Pliniussen is available to comment on the launch of UberHop in Toronto. The service offers $5 flat-rate rides on weekdays during rush hour on four specific routes (Liberty Village-Financial District, Fort York-Financial District, CityPlace-Financial District and Distillery District-Financial District). Drivers in larger vehicles (SUV's or vans) will be able to pick-up up to five passengers, who will be given a designated waiting area to meet their driver.

"Uber is taking its first step in becoming a hydrid transportation service, one that services both private and selected public transit needs," says Dr. Pliniussen. "Uber has done its homework and has identified underserviced commuter routes and has launched UberHop in several countries. Now, its bringing this long-overdue offering to Toronto."

Dr. Pliniussen is available for phone interviews on December 14.
