Available Expert - The life and legacy of Charlie Watts

Tuesday, August 24, 2021

Queen’s University expert Robb Mackay (Dan School of Drama and Music) is available to speak about the legacy of Charlie Watts.

The drummer of the Rolling Stones, died peacefully Tuesday, according to his publicist, at the age of 80.

“The Rolling Stones wouldn’t have been nearly as good a band without Charlie - It’s arguable that without his steadying influence that Jagger, Richards, and Jones would’ve killed the band long before their prime. His legacy is its feel. It’s almost impossible to replicate. I’ve tried many, many times. I absolutely look up to him - every living drummer owes him a debt” says MacKay.
