Available Expert - NATO Summit kicks off amid political turmoil

Tuesday, July 10, 2018

Queen’s University military and defence expert Stéfanie Von Hlatky is available to comment on this week’s NATO Summit – a meeting of the NATO Heads of State and Government that occurs every two years – that began today in Brussels, Belgium.

“After a difficult G7 Summit in Charlevoix, President Trump is headed to Brussels for the NATO Summit,” says Dr. von Hlatky. “As a political-military organization of 29 countries, NATO’s objective during the summit is to demonstrate alliance solidarity, while Trump continues to lambast key allies over defence spending and President Putin attempts to undermine NATO’s credibility and resolve.”

Dr. von Hlatky is the Director of the Queen’s Centre for International and Defence Policy (CIDP).

Dr. von Hlatky is in Brussels to attend the summit (July 10-13) and can be made available for comment during that time via telephone or Skype/Facetime.
