Available Expert - NATO Summit in Warsaw

Thursday, July 7, 2016

Queen’s University international security and defence expert Stefanie von Hlatky is available to comment on the 2016 NATO Summit, taking place in Warsaw, Poland on July 8 and 9, 2016. Dr. von Hlatky will be in Warsaw to present at the Warsaw Summit Experts' Forum, NATO in Defence of Peace: 2016 and Beyond.

The NATO heads of state are expected to agree to the deployment of four battalions of troops to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to counter possible Russian incursions. Canada has agreed in principle to provide one of the four battalions. The summit is also expected to address cybersecurity, increased defence spending, as well as the ongoing mission in Afghanistan.

As stated, Dr. von Hlatky will be in Warsaw to present at the experts’ forum. She will be available for interviews with on-site media, as well as post-summit analysis. Due to security at the summit venue, we cannot state definitively at this time if she would be available via Skype or FaceTime. Due to the time difference, there may be a slight delay in scheduling media requests.
