AVAILABLE EXPERT – OECD Education at a Glance Report

Thursday, November 26, 2015

Queen's University education professor and Associate Dean (Graduate Studies and Research), Don Klinger, is available to comment on the Canadian results of the OECD Education at a Glance Report, released this week. The report compares education financing, attainment, labour market participation and other metrics, across the 34 member-nations of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

“There are a number of positives for us to take out of the OECD report, and directions for future investment,” says Dr. Klinger. "Education in Canada from kindergarten to post-secondary schooling is almost exclusively publicly funded. These investments pay off. As well, Canadian public school teachers are well compensated in comparison to other OECD countries and there is a positive association between teacher salaries and student performance on international standardized tests. Countries that invest more in their education systems achieve higher results."

Dr. Klinger is available for interviews on November 26 and 27.
