Available Expert - PM Trudeau names new chief science advisor

Queen’s University researcher and one of Canada’s leading scientists John Smol is available for comment on Mona Nemer being named Canada’s new chief science advisor. Dr. Nemer is a specialist in the genetics of heart disease and a long-time vice-president of research at the University of Ottawa. The three year appointment was announced on Tuesday.

“The naming of a chief science advisor is a major step towards bringing evidence back into decision making in this country.  It is hard for me to think of a better choice for this position than Dr. Mona Nemer,” says Dr. Smol.
