Available Expert - President Trump's executive order on immigration will face legal challenges

Monday, January 30, 2017

Queen’s University immigration expert Sharry Aiken is available to comment on the recent executive order signed by President Trump halting the resettlement of refugees to the United States. The order also imposes a temporary ban on the admission of nationals of seven predominantly Muslim countries.

“The loss of United States leadership on refugee protection will be devastating to refugees globally. This makes Canada’s leadership role more important than ever,” says Professor Aiken.

Professor Aiken is an associate professor at Queen’s Law. She is an expert on immigration and refugee law and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in a number of precedent setting immigration cases. Her research focuses on the controversies, complexities and challenges posted by immigration and border security.

Please note she is available for phone interviews at 416-529-0379.
