Available Expert - Queen's University expert comments on the passing of John Mann

Thursday, November 21, 2019

Queen’s University expert Robb MacKay is available to comment on the passing of John Mann, the front man of the rock band Spirit of the West. Mann was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease when he was 50, he died Wednesday in Vancouver at the age of 57.

“John Mann and Spirit of the West embodied activism in popular music,” says MacKay. “Even after Mann’s decline due to early onset Alzheimer’s Disease, he kept pushing social justice issues with help from assistive technology, raising funds to buy similar devices for other patients with dementia. Canada is a poorer place today without John.”
